Three clean steps

How to generate a random Pokémon team

No hidden weighting. No reroll penalties. Just a transparent path to a surprise.

  1. 01

    Choose your Pokémon filters

Start with party size, generation, and type. Open advanced controls only when you need game-specific precision.

  2. 02

    Generate a random Pokémon

A secure browser-native draw selects one eligible Pokémon.

  3. 03

    Share or pick again

Random Pokémon Picker questions and answers

How does the random Pokémon picker work?+

Choose a draw size and optional generation, type, or advanced condition, then start an encounter. The picker uses your browser’s cryptographic random generator to select fairly from every Pokémon that matches. Nothing is sent to a server.

Does it include every Pokémon?+

Yes. The local Pokédex contains all 1,025 species introduced across Generations I through IX, including Legendary and Mythical Pokémon.

Can I pick from a specific generation or type?+

Yes. Combine multiple generations and types, choose any or all type matching, or open Advanced filters for game Pokédex, evolution stage, forms, abilities, gender, and minimum base stats. The eligible count updates before every draw.

Is PokéPicker free?+

Completely. There is no account, install, or paywall. Your recent encounters stay in your own browser and can be cleared with browser storage.

Can I generate a random Pokémon team?+

Yes. Choose one, three, or six slots. You can require unique primary types and reroll one team member without changing the rest of the encounter.

Can I share the Pokémon I picked?+

Yes. After an encounter, use Share result. The link includes the Pokémon, draw size, and active filters so someone else can reopen the same setup.

Can it generate nature, gender, ability, or shiny Pokémon?+

Yes. Those encounter details are optional, so the basic picker stays fast. When enabled, they are generated with the result and preserved in history and shared links. Random shiny encounters use full 1-in-4,096 odds.
